No, her white blood cell counts (the ones that fight off infection) are so low, any random low-level bug even as mundane as the cold, could really mess her up.
It's why she isn't allowed to eat things or see people that could transmit harmful bacteria to her, and end up making her sick. Chemo therapy murders white blood cells.

Finally they let me out. The white blood cells are still low, but I've already gotten the max of the medicine they can give me. Hopefully it will rise on its own before next Monday, or I won't be able to have chemo.

Chemo went through as planned last Monday. On Tuesday, I had to go for a Neulasta injection, to prevent my white blood cell count from going down again...let's hope it works. I just started not feeling sick today.
Some strange news: I may get compensated for all this hassle. A friend I used to work with at the bank got in contact with me on MySpace the other day. Her mom works for a law firm, and they're currently involved in a case for one of the head lawyer's relatives....who lived in my neighborhood and got cancer. They are suing the company that dumped nearby! I am going to talk to them tomorrow. I'll keep everyone posted. Maybe I'll get enough to move out and get a safe house to live in.

Hope everything works out for you. That company needs to get sued for dumping that crap

I went to the lawyer today and was there for hours! I think there's a pretty good case. Hopefully everything will work out. I spent quite a while just pointing out all the cancer cases I know of on a map.

Pretty much. I live in a small neighborhood, and already there's like 15 cases. And I only know about 1/4 of the neighborhood, maybe. So those are just the people I know. So, we estimate at least 15 more. And two others are ovarian, like mine. At least 3 others are people too young to have the cancer, like me.
I signed the paperwork to hire the law firm, and we will be one of the main plaintiffs in a class action suit. The goal, at this point, is to find as many cancer cases as we possibly can. Besides cancer, though, anything that can be pinned on the contamination will help, too. (Chronic illnesses, skin conditions, anything that a person did not have before moving to the neighborhood.) Another good point is the company that dumped also built all the houses in the neighborhood. They were built for their factory workers back in the 20's, all made of concrete. We think the concrete is contaminated, as well, because the majority of the cancer cases involve those who renovated their house and opened their walls up.
