UPDATE: (please do not proceed with reading this is you are not intending to hear about medical procedures, and won't get grossed out! *lol*) Last week (October 22) I went to my OB/GYN for a follow-up. My incision area was a bit red, so I have to go back in tomorrow for another check. My doctor referred me to the Women's Cancer Center at Morristown Hospital. Unfortunately, after reviewing my paperwork, they decided to have my doctor refer me elsewhere. They have no openings for at last a month, and they said my case was too urgent. Now I've been given over to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, which is the best in the state and the only affiliated with the National Cancer Institute. Today (October 29) I had my first visit at the Cancer Institute. They still need to review my actual pathology slides, but based on the report alone I will have to proceed with surgery. They are looking to get me into Robert Wood Johnson next week. This surgery will be much more involved than the last. (Where they removed only an ovary.) This will be a combination complete hysterectomy, as well as a "staging" surgery. I will be having the uterus and cervix removed, the remaining ovary and fallopian tube removed, they will remove the fatty tissue from my pelvic area, the protective padding for the intestines will be removed, and they will also be checking/removing the lymph nodes. As an added precaution, she also said the appendix will also be examined and possibly removed. This surgery will involve at least 4 days in the hospital, and she said I probably will not be up out of bed for at least 4-6 weeks. (With the last, I am up and walking after 10 days.) After the surgery, they will start me on Hormone Replacement Therapy, as this will throw me into instant menopause. My doctor said there is only a 10% chance the findings will show me at Stage 1. She is very baffled, as I am only 30, and this type of Ovarian Cancer generally only hits women over 55. I also have no family history of women cancers (breast, cervical, ovarian, etc.) If I fall into this slim margin, the surgery will be all I need. If I am in the other 90% range, I will need either chemo, radiation, or both. What's next? More pre-op bloodwork! Let's hope this new hospital is better at getting a vein. good riddens to Warren Hospital!

Just a reminder, I will be having my surgery tomorrow. This will be my last day on. I'm not sure when I will get back... My hospital stay will take at least 4 days, probably more. And it will be a while after that until i can get online. So if I don't respond, you'll know why. I'll try to get one of my kids to log on and post updates, but I can't make any guarantees. (*hehehe* I can't even get them to clean their rooms!)

OK, I was finally released from the hospital yesterday.
For updates, it was determined I have stage 1c Ovarian Cancer. What does this mean? It was sort of confined only to the ovary, but the cancer penetrated thru the tumor. I will be starting chemo next week because of this.

Hello Knarly, I'm so sorry to hear, what you're going through. I want you to know that I have/am praying for you. I don't know if you're a church goer, but here are some prayers, coming against cancer in the name of Jesus, and some healing scriptures from the Bible. www.precious-christian-dailydevotionals.com/cancer.htmlPeople have read these same scriptures aloud everyday and everytime they felt down, and have been healed, by the holy blood of Christ, of all infirmities. God can heal you too, if you belive and pray. With all the victory in Christ, Conductor Psalms 103:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Mat 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Mal 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Mat 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Mat 8:7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. Luk 9:6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where. Luk 9:11 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing. 1Pe 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Mar 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. Mar 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mar 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I'm not religious in any way, so I won't be praying. However I will be hoping and KNOWING that everything will be fine and you'll be back to your normal self in no time! Until then, just hang in there.

I'm still hanging in. Chemo went pretty badly. I ended up with an infection in the ER due to immune system being down. I'm on antibiotics now, so doing better. Also, I have to have another surgery to have a port installed. Forgive my erratic logging in.
