Well, I have not updated in a while. I guess I have been trying to forget what's going on, so...
I did let everyone know about the infection. But while I was in the ER, the CT scan they did picked up a cyst on my kidney. I've known about it for over 6 years. This cyst was found while I was pregnant with Kenzie... They couldn't do anything about it, including scan it better, until after I gave birth. It is large, from the last scan around 11 cm. They had monitored me around 3 years, and said since it was benign, they didn't want to damage my kidney by removing it. That was fine then. But, with a "benign cyst" on my ovary that ended up being a cancerous tumor, now the oncologist is freaking out thinking my benign cyst on my kidney maybe isn't benign. I had an MRI on Thursday and am waiting for the results. *sigh* I'm thinking the only way to know for sure is a biopsy, which means another surgery.
My hair finally started falling out...bigtime...on Thursday. I really want to just shave it off and be done with it. But my wig now has to be pre-authorized through the insurance. I ordered some head coverings (scarves, wraps and hats) but they have not shipped yet. So I guess I will have to hold off on the shave off until the order comes, at least. I hope that's soon, because it's really depressing.
Friday I had to have a port surgically implanted. They made me be awake for the procedure! Not fun. And now I'm just really sore. The plus side? No stitches...they used glue.
Monday is chemo day. What an end to my fun extended weekend.

So... you have/had two cysts? >.> Dang... hope you get better... well, technically they thought the one on my ovary was a cyst. It got upgraded to tumor during the surgery. The one on my kidney, I guess we'll find out soon enough what it really is.

I hope it's not a cancer. You'd have 2 types of cancer!

I went to chemo yesterday. *ugh* It went better because of the port. At least I did not have to get jabbed all over my arm. But the last time it took me over a day to get sick. Yesterday I felt sick right away when I got home. Not doing too well today, either.
My hair pissed me off, so I shaved it today. Then, shortly after, I was informed by my doctor that the insurance is giving a hard time about approving the wig. Luckily, a lady at the office referred me to a beauty salon. Apparently the one lady who works there is a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. They will get me a wig for free, and then style it for me! I'm still waiting on those head coverings, maybe they'll come today. In the meantime, it's a good thing I did the breast cancer walks, I dug out one of those pink bandanas to wear in the meantime.
As for the kidney, the cyst has grown since I was last monitored. I am being referred to a urological oncologist. Unfortunately, he can't do anything until after my chemo is over in March. So I'm going to be monitored for now. Again, they'll probably have to do surgery to find out for sure just what it is. The MRI said it was a cyst, but so did the MRI on my ovary.

*lol* Would you believe I'm restricted? (BTW, not going home today....) I'm like on lockdown. I feel perfectly fine, but staff and visitors have to wear masks in my room, if they're sick. And no flowers or fresh fruits are allowed in here, because of bacteria. There are like yellow warning signs all over my door. I'm like the only one in the cancer ward restricted like this!
