Yeah, I went to see TLKoB a couple years ago in NYC; I loooooove it!!! ;D It's true that there aren't really any animated animals, but the costumes come as close to being realistic as they can. I very nearly forgot there were any humans onstage during Circle of Life! Plus there were lotsa brand-new scenes that expanded the story a lot, like what Nala had to go through while Scar was King.*shudders* And the new songs they wrote are GREAT, I already own the soundtrack and I'm getting sheet music pretty soon. ;D I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has the money, UK or USA!!!

"The Madness of King Scar" scene is a bit scary to think about. Especially if you try and think about the genetics of the whole thing.

Oh dear...let's spare ourselves a few nightmares and not think about it Run Nala, run!!! Although you have to consider, with only one or two males around at a time, most of the lions and lionesses are pretty closely related... lionking.org has a good article on Nala's parentage for anyone interested... www.lionking.org/faq.html#father

Yeah I thought so too, especially with all the new scenes and songs they've added in. Sometimes I think they should make a "special extended edition" TLK DVD that has all the Broadway scenes and stuff animated into the original movie...wouldn't that be cool? ;D

I think the part with Scar wanting Nala to be his new queen would be a bit scary for the kids *lol*

I've never seen it. Does it follow the film story line?

****spoilers ahead****
In some ways, yes. But they added quite a bit of stuff in. The show is probably not intended for very small kids to see. The storyline focuses a bit on Nala, which you don't see in the movie. There's a scene where Scar is bemoaning the fact that everyone hates him as king, and then comes up with the idea that he needs a queen to have cubs for him. Guess who he picks? Nala. And this is the point that propels Nala into leaving the Pride Lands to look for help. She has a whole song called "Shadowland", which my favorite from the musical, where she's saying goodbye to her family as she leaves. There's also a great song called "Endless Night" where adult Simba is singing about the fact that his father promised to be there for him, but isn't. (My third favorite song.) Of course, "He Lives In You", sung by Rafiki, and the version sung by Mufasa, "They Live in You" are excellent songs, as those who have seen Simba's Pride know full well.

Yeah, for the most part it follows the movie story line. The very beginning, the middle (with the stampede and Hakuna Matata) and the very end are almost exactly the same as the movie, and in between there's been a lot of things added in like knarrly said, but almost nothing was taken out that was in the movie. One major difference, though...Rafiki is played by a woman! But I think it's actually better that way, as Rafiki sings the opening "Circle of Life" and some other songs, plus she has several African chants that she does during the show. They've added in some more songs as well, Zazu, Simba and Mufasa sing "The Morning Report" (I assume it's the same song as in the Special Edition DVD, although I haven't seen that)...the Hyenas sing a song in the elephant graveyard called "Chow Down" while they're chasing Simba and Nala...all told, the only characters that don't get to sing in a new song are Timon and Pumbaa. I would definitely recommend seeing it if you ever get a chance!
