The only thing Taraji would be able to see in the dark blue eyes gazing down at her was a almost fatherly sparkle. "Yup, that's right. I thought I told you, I just couldn't remember." He spoke, again, in a almost whisperlike tone, for fear that his naturally loud voice would frighten her. "I'm going to guess that you don't normally talk to others. Am I right?"

Taraji snuggled against his paw and shook her head. "Only... m...my... mother." her voice became more and more stable.

"Ah, I see. So... You're just a little on the shy side, then?" Jamall asked, although he already knew the answer.

Taraji closed her eyes and mumbled: "So...sorry." But while snuggling against Jamalls paw she smiled again. She started to completely trust Jamall and accept him as substitude for her mother.

Jamall chuckled softly and nuzzled her cheek. "No, don't be sorry. I was a little shy when I was your age, too." Jamall replied. "Oh, how do you feel, Taraji? You weren't looking so good when I found you on the border."

Taraji smiled and huddled against his paw. "Better... but..." her stomach ended the sentence for her with a loud growl.

Jamall smiled, then nodded towards another hunk of Zebra laying off in the corner. "Want me to tear some more meat off for you?"

The hunger and excitement of getting something to eat washed away her shyness for a moment. She jumped on her feet and nodded. "Please...". She licked her muzzle and looked up with sparkling eyes.

Jamall rose to his paws as well, and nodded in response. "Okay then, let's get you some chow, Taraji." He said, already moving forward to the pile of food.
The moment he got to it, he started tearing one of the finest and most delectable pieces of meat into the same small chunks he had made for her before, and proceeded to place the chunks on the ground in a neat little pile for her. "Just tell me when you have enough."

Taraji started eating and her eyes were sparkling up to Jamall while she chew. She was not eating so hasty as before but chew every piece very long before slug down. She chewed every slice Jamall gave her and looked up to him with eyes full of gratitude and affection. The last bit of shyness before Jamall vanished and after the tenth piece she rolled on her back and curred happy. "I am full." she declared to Jamall.

Jamall couldn't help but notice how... Happy Taraji seemed to be. He also noticed how her shy nature was disappearing bit by bit. That was good news! "You're done? Okay then." The lion said, after turning to face the cub. He nuzzled her forepaws, which were sticking up into the air, then smiled down at the cub. "So what do you want to do now, Taraji?"

"Ermmmmm" Taraji played with the paw that was hovering over her. "Drinking something..." she replied after a moment while still playing with the paw of Jamall.

Jamall laughed softly as little Taraji played with his paw as she thought, then spoke. "Allright then, it's back down to the watering hole for us. Climb on and I'll carry you." He offered, setting his paw back down alongside his other paw, then lowering his front half for her to clamber onto his shoulders.

"Yea!" Taraji rolled back on her feet and climbed at the top of Jamall. Like in the morning she crawled deep into his fur and huddled against him. Her new big friend was so nice that it was just like in her dreams. She giggled a bit.

"H-hey! That t-t-tickles!" Jamall burst into soft laughter when she crawled onto his back, and then nuzzled deep into his fur. He never knew why, but at a spot located precisely between his shoulders and his neck, he was extremely ticklish. Now, since his mane normally covered that ticklish spot, it wasn't a problem for him. But, as luck would have it, the strands of thick black mane that typically covered that spot happened to have been brushed aside when Taraji nestled into his fur... And directly into that ticklish spot. After a few moments of laughing, the lion, now known to be ticklish, managed to get a hold of it, and stagger to his paws. "Uh, yeah, I'm ticklish." He admitted, a sheepish smile stretching across his muzzle as he started to turn and pad out of his den.

Huddled in Jamalls mane Taraji carefully looked around while Jamall walked through the night to the watering hole. As Jamall told her that he was ticklish she tried to not move so much. "Ermmm... Jamall... how is this place called?" she whispered from his shoulders.

[lol, sorry you two. I missed a lot here, but that's kinda why I had Simba leave Jamall's den, since I knew I'd be a bit bogged down by homework. hehe. ^^ I'm fine with any changes you make to the story, as well as time jumps, for future referrence. ^^]
Simba had left Jamall's den, and after a few more hours of searching for Vitani turned out the same way the previous attempt, Simba decided it best to give up the search for the missing lioness.
"I give up. That lioness is IMPOSSIBLE to find..." Simba muttered to himself as he walked one last round of Pride Rock.
It was already getting dark and Simba really wanted to get back to his den to spend some much needed quality time with Nala, but his duties as King always came first. He rounded the last corner of Pride Rock, glad to see that nothing was out of place, but as he turned to make his way back towards his residence, something odd caught his attention.
"Okay, I know I'm getting old, but am I really seeing this?"Simba thought to himself, as his eyes fixated upon what looked to be, a black panther, wandering about in a halfway stealthy looking manner.
This sparked both Simba's curiosity, as well as his cautious side. He quickly gathered himself and made his way towards the unknown creature, calling out in a firm and clear tone.
"You there, what business do you have here in The Pride Lands and who are you?"
Simba was a bit puzzled, as he had never seen quite a marvelous looking creature in his midst before, but he wasn't about to let his fascination get the better of him. He waited patiently for a response from the big cat.

The panther instantly whipped around to face Simba, his light green eyes staring back into the reddish-brown orbs of the King's. Now, the very first thing that came to Sefu's mind was that the lion he was staring at was big. Almost the same size as his friend. And since poor Sefu was maybe a inch taller and wider at the shoulder than Nala, and only a hair more muscled, that meant that he wouldn't stand a chance in a fair fight.
Then he remembered that the lion had decided to speak to him, rather than just smack him upside the head and be done with it. So, Sefu mustered up his courage, looked up at the lion, and spoke. "Erm... My name is Sefu Hishima, Sir. I'm from the Jungles. I, uh, I'm looking for a friend of mine. Jamall. Big guy, 'bout this high at the shoulder, dark brown fur, black mane." He replied, using his right paw to indicate Jamall's height by lifting it to roughly where he imagined Jamall's shoulder would be.
"You're... King Simba, right? I heard of you before. Uh, nothing but glowing praise, though, Sir!" In his attempt not to accidentally step on Simba's toes with his words, Sefu probably came off sounding like a nervous military Private addressing a four-star General. In a way, Sefu WAS that nervous. It wasn't very often he had contact with others, and he had never so much as seen a member of royalty in the flesh before, so the meeting with Simba had him understandably nervous.
"This place is Pride Rock. It sits in roughly the middle of the Pride Lands. I'll take you to the top of Pride Rock tomorrow around sunrise and show you, I think you'd like the view from up there." Jamall replied, while descending Pride Rock and heading towards a smaller, but closer, watering hole tucked behind Pride Rock. "I'm not a native, though, that's why I look different from pretty much everyone else with my darker coloration. My sister and I fled here after our parents were killed. We were very young at the time, around your age." He added as an afterthought.

"Pride Rock." Taraji repeated and giggled. "Thats a nice name. You know I dreamed of this place. Are there any others around here too? In my dreams I saw a lot of lions."

;DSimba stood his ground, not taking his eyes off the unfamiliar creature for a single second as he listened to what the panther was saying. He took a moment to process what the big cat was telling him, not sure if it was completely the truth or not. Still, Simba could easily sense the nervous state that the creature was in, making him feel as though that he was not a threat.
"I see. So you're a friend of Jamall's huh, but you don't even know where he lives? I take it this is your first time here in The Pride Lands then. Yes, I am Simba, the ruler of these lands." Simba spoke in a proud tone.
He could see that the panther wasn't lightening up any from his words, so he decided to change his tone a bit. He spoke once more, this time, in a more hospitable manner.
"Forgive me if I come off a bit harsh...um...Sefu, you said your name was? It's just, I'm very protective of my Pride, as well as these lands, and I do my utmost to keep everyone safe here. I can see that you're not here to cause trouble, so you can relax. I'm not going to sick all my Pride Members on you or anything." Simba said in a light hearted fashion.
Simba gave Sefu a friendly smile, as he added.
"Can't even keep track of all my Pride Members anyways, so you're safe Sefu."
Simba paused for a moment and then recalled why exactly the panther was there in the first place.
"Oh yes, you're looking for Jamall, right? You'll find his den in that direction." Simba stated, as he pointed a fore paw in the location of Jamall's den. "I'm not too sure if he's still awake though, but it's worth a shot. If you get lost, you can come and find me at that den there, and I'll be more than happy to guide you to his den. I'd do it now, but I'm a bit exhausted from the day's events. All in a days work for being a King I suppose." Simba said, grinning slightly towards Sefu.
Simba looked the panther over once more, before speaking once more.
"First time seeing your kind around The Pride Lands. I must say, you're in fine shape Sefu. If you ever need work, I could use someone like you. Like I said, one of my trusted lionesses has gone missing, probably on her own personal little vacation or something, but we're in need of a skilled tracker or at least someone who is good at gathering information. I'm not trying to recruit you or anything, as I don't exactly know the reason for your business here, other than visiting your old friend, but hey, when opportunity knocks." Simba said, before turning to leave. "Just think it over please. I can't offer you much, but a place to stay, a good meal once a day and perhaps a lioness...uh, if you're into them that is. Can't say I have any female panter's on paw at the moment." Simba stated with a chuckle before taking his leave.
