[Mind if I join-y with my new Char, SSGT Tobias Carver? He's leaning towards Anti-Vampire... For now. You know how someone's opinions can suddenly change...]
Staff Sergeant Carver adjusted the chin strap on his helmet and shifted his Type IV assualt vest, to make it more comfortable. He glanced around at the others on his team, and sighed. Most of the other members of his eight-man security detail were a little drowsy, but not him. Ever since the Vamps came into the open, he had started requesting night duty. He didn't feel comfortable sleeping when these... Things were running around, doing God-knows-what to people. So, he started sleeping in the day and working at night. "Kapono, wake up! Gonazalez, if you close your eyes one more time, I'm gonna toss you to those D@mn leeches and let them suck you dry! Harper, put out that cigarette! Get it together Marines, we got a job to do!" He barked, rallying his team as they stood in the dark, dank alley behind the building where the Vampire's conference was being held.
Not ten seconds later, the first of the Goverment officals arrived. The grim-faced Carver simply ignored most of the visibly worried politicians, instead scanning the rooftops and surrounding area through the ACOG scope mounted to his HK 416 Assualt Rifle. A Vamp jumped across the roof, and very nearly got a burst of silver coated rounds pumped into his mongrel hide. Thankfully, the presence of six Vampire security guards helped to make sure that the Sergeant thought before squeezing the trigger. The last thing he wanted was to have to shoot his way out of the area, with a mob of bloodthirsty demons at his heels.
The Marine took a deep breath to steady his nerves, turned on his heel, and followed his men and the Goverment officals into the building. This night was not gonna be fun... [And if I get in, I do hope this is a good starting post!!]

~10 minutes later~
Raf woke up, as his phone rang. It turned out to be a wrong number, but the damage was done. "I'll never get back to sleep...." He growled, snapping the Razr 2 shut. He'd been asleep since 4:30 earlier in the day; after 8 hours of snoring, he realized he wouldn't be drowsy any time soon. Rather than sit in the tiny hovel (As preferable as it was to outside) and watch the fuzzy antenna picture of public acess T.V. from some other operational signal god knew where, he began to ready himself for a night out. Looking at the Flying Legends '08-'09 calender on the wall, the red circle and note on today's (new) date, marked the night of the vampric self-defense summit. "Ah Jeeze...." He groaned, realizing that countless hoards of vampires would be plagueing the city this night. Still, he figured he might as well go out. As vile and disgusting as they were when they began salivating around him, he was in a free country. If they had the right to be filthy blood sucking vermin, he had the right to go about the city as he chose without them scaring him into hiding. After a quick shower in the water-purifier shower attatchment, he got dressed and holstered the general, shut the lights off, walked out, and locked the door.

I arrived at the convention with my second early. Vampires already crowded the streets outside the convention. I guessed that we all wanted to start the meeting as soon as possible. I then noticed some humans who were stationed in one of the alleys. They must have been here to protect the human officials. I then saw a man i recognized. Tobias Carver. Well i hadn't expected to see him here. He had only just joined the marines when i had met him. He didn't even know what i was at the time but i had been his good friend. When we, meaning the vampires, came out of hiding a couple years back we had lost contact.
I walked over towards him. He had his back to me so he didn't notice me coming. "Well, Tobias" I said smiling. "Fancy seeing you here."

At first, Carver didn't believe his ears. That sounded like Nick, a old friend of his from back when he had just gotten out of basic training. He turned around to face the man talking to him, and sure enough, there was good ol' Nicholas Kahn. "Nick? Long time no see!" He exclaimed, a grin crossing his face. He had no idea that the other man was a Vampire. "What in the blazes are you doing here, though?" Tobias asked, as he glanced over his shoulder at his Marines and a very frightened human diplomat who looked like he was just about to wet himself. He really, really hated those friggin' diplomats. He was pretty sure that their endless rhetoric and babble would create far more problems than they had ever managed to solve.

I opened my mouth to speak but then closed it. I didn't know how to tell him i was a vamp. I decided to come right out and say it. "I'm here for the convention." I told him. He knew i wasn't a government official. He would probably figure the rest out on his own. Pretty soon he would recognize the uberly pale skin and strange shining cat like eyes. I didn't know how he would react but I was ready for anything. One of the men in his group was shaking and looked like he was going to wet himself. Obviously Tobias was the only one who hadn't noticed i was a vampire.

Raf saw the congregation, and out of sheer, blind, morbid curiosity, began to wonder what the convention would be like. Several plans bloomed in his mind, as watched from behind a large stone wall. He looked over at some government vans pulling up. Maybe they could shed some light on this. Walking over to them, he tripped on something large, and black. It rattled faintly, as it tumbled to a stop. He checked the label: Canon, in red letters. "A camera bag?" He asked, aloud. "A camera bag!!" He thought, mischieviously. Digging through it, he was suprised to find that nearly all of the equipment was in great condition. Of the equipment in the bag, the only damaged things were 3-4 cracked filters, a bent beyond repair tripod, and a soaked log book. It was unimportant, on inspection. He picked up the cam-corder, a replacement lense with a plan forming in his mind, and approached the stopped vehicles.

Unfortunatly for Tobias, it took him about 1.25 seconds to figure out that Nick was a Vampire, thanks to a passing van with it's headlights cranked to high. The Sergeant swore under his breath and narrowed his eyes. He thanked the good lord that Nick couldn't read the expression on his face, thanks to the slightly tinted ballistics goggles he wore. Nicholas could, however, see that the Marine had already tightened his grip on his rifle. Unlike the diplomats though, Tobias wasn't scared. Just dissapointed. "Convention? More like a freak show if you ask me. And I don't mean the Vampires, they don't bother me too much. I mean the dumb-@$$ hillbillys taking to the streets with stakes and garlic cloves. But... I'll see you later. I've got a job to do... Just like I'm sure and your people have a job to do." He said, turning on his heel and walking back to his squad, who were being ushered inside to the human section of the convention center. He wasn't sure whether to feel sorry for Nick or be angry with him for not telling him sooner. He didn't HATE Vampires, he just didn't care to be around most of them. It's not like Nick had anything to fear from Tobias, unless he got him mad.

A moment later, 11 men all wearing flourescent yellow Hazmat suits, with large oxygen masks, and impenetrable black eyepieces. 10 busied themselves with setting up monitoring equipment, while the 11th busied himself with using the camcorder to begin to capture the opening statements. A familiar titanium-plated desert eagle hung from his hip, but it was hidden inside a utility pouch on the suit's waist belt, next to emergency suit repair kits, a minor first-aid unit, and other tools. The other agents finished their work, and sat down in the locked down reserved box, while the 1st of the politicians walked unsteadily up to the stage. A few minor turns on the cam-corder's lense and the picture was coming in crystal clear.

I sighed as Tobias walked off. I short of suspected his reaction would be just what he had done. I didn't know if he was angry at me though. I bet he must have been. I just shook my head and walked to the vampire section and took my seat. I had had to make up a speech and memorize it the night before. The king had decided that i would be the spokesman for the state he controlled. That was of course Louisiana. I waited for the convention to begin.
All us vampires were on high alert. We didn't want to be attacked when this convention was about stopping the attacks. I looked around alert to any danger and i spotted a familiar face in back at the entrance. I had to work hard to keep my fangs from extending as I noticed Rafael. I wondered if it was just chance he was here or if the king had something to do with it. I decided to go with chance. Either way I didn't like him so close to the convention.

Tobias frowned as the Human statesmen initiated talks. He really hated politics, and here he was, stuck in a room chock full of politicians. He double-checked his rifle and made sure the safety was set to 'OFF', then looked around. One Vamp was getting WAY too close to the Red Tape that divided the Convention center between Vampires and Humans. [Something the Human diplomats had insisted on, for the safety of both sides.] "Sir, you need to take a step back." He said, walking up to the line, which only security personnel could approach. He then noticed the camera in the Vampire's hands. He was just a tourist. He thought for a moment, then removed a spare Press Pass from a utility pouch in his vest and handed it to the Vamp, who was apparently a freelance photojournalist, judging by his garb and the ID tag on his vest. "Hey, go up to the press balcony up there, OK buddy? Just don't get close to this line, it's a felony." He said, trying to be a civil as possible. He was rewarded by a big grin from the man, who said hurried thanks in French, turned around, and dissapeared into the crowd, clutching the precious pass to his chest.
Carver just shrugged and walked back to his post, at the bottom of the Human statesman's podium. He had to admit though, he was glad to have helped the poor fellow. He imagined it was quite difficult for a freelancer to get his paws on a press pass, especially at something as important as this. [He also wasn't worried about the man being a assassin or something. For one, the Vamps would deal with him so quick it wouldn't even be funny, and two, everyone but the guards were subjected to thourough scans for weapons when they entered the building.]

Having come in with the hazmat team, Rafael was inadvertedly given immunity to weapons checks, a fact that he was currently not aware of. Luckily, the thick suit he was in was hermetic; the scent he irradiated that would normally drive vampires nuts, was self-contained. All a passing whiffer would get from him was the strong odor of chemically-treated latex and rubber, as well as old chemicals and the smell of dust from storage. He looked down and spotted the vampire from earlier. He was looking right up at Raf. "He can't recongise me.... Can he?" He wondered, not looking at him directly. The one-way view panels on the suit's chem-mask both pointed toward the stage, though his eyes were aimed at the vampire. He decided to ignore it, and continued filming the debacle.
After 10 minutes of filming, he looked over to the Hazmat team. 2 were playing a paper and pen game, 1 was doing crosswords, and the other 7 were either talking, or asleep. The tech. they brought in had already been set up, and was in the process of making (what he thought might've been) normal beeps, clicks, and a constant whirring noise. Raf chuckled. Apparently they did not think very highly of this summit either. He continued to record.

The convention began quite suddenly. One of the human officials began to speak. He laid out a plan for the government would work to stop the attacks. He was met with a series of boos from some of the human on lookers. The vampires had to not to attack this people who they knew would like to kill them.
After a couple more speeches it was my turn to give my speech. I stood up and walked over to the stage. I stood there for a moment and surveyed the crowd. I then began to speak. "As you all know the attacks on us vampires have become out of hand." I said and looked out among the crowd. "We vampire's are well apt to deal with these attacks but we are not allowed to. If found to have harmed the human in anyway we are to be punished by law. This does not seem fair when we are only acting in self defense." I paused for a second and could see the vampires and some humans nodding. "We vampires only ask one thing of the government. Give us the permission to protect ourselves against our attackers. If they draw blood it would only seem fair that we get some of that blood back. " I said now looking at the government officials. "Give us the permission to feed from our attackers." I said staring at them.
I then walked back to my seat. I was followed by cheers and boos. I didn't care about either of them. I just wanted to see the attacks ended.

The lead human diplomat, a wiry senator from Hawaii by the name of Thomas Kapono, slowly rose from his seat and smoothed out a ruffle from his suit. He ran his weathered hand through his short silver hair, and adjusted his gold-rimmed spectacles as he looked around. He stepped up to the stand, and paused for a moment, collecting his thoughts. "The last speaker has raised a excellent point, one I agree with. We humans have the right to defend ourselves with lethal force against Vampires. Therefore, I must wonder why we humans seem to think that we have the God-given right to tell the Vampires that they have to simply take whatever a bunch of rebellious murderers dish out. That is not right and just, no matter how hard you look at it. I move to petition Congress to push a bill through to give the Vampires the right to defend themselves against these rebels. Though I am somewhat hesitant about their wish to feed upon their attackers, I suppose it would be the most effective way to deal with them. After all, if they are to be destroyed, they might as well serve some use." He stated calmly, looking about the ranks of Humans and Vampires. He was receiving nods of approval from most of the miliatary personnel in the building, along with many of the police present. He waited a moment to observe the effects his statement had on the people, then, he returned to his seat and let his stunned comrades take over once more. He had not informed any of the other humans present of his intentions to essentially 'turn loose' the Vampire Population on their attackers.
Tobias was, to be frank, stunned. He had never expected that. But, the more he thought about it, the more he agreed with it. He had the right to shoot, stake, or behead any Vampire who he even felt threatened by. It made sense that the Vamps should have the right to defend themselves as well.

The yellow hazmat crews above simply watched in boredom, except the one who was filiming it all. "Jump, Jump, Jump, king me." Grunted one of the other crewman, to the chagrin of his opponent.
Down below, the opposing argument party took to the podium. "Ladies, and Gentlemen." He said, looking only at the humans, as if they were the only ones present. "We have endured the presence of these foul beings, long enough. I know I am not the only one to realize there could be COUNTLESS numbers of deaths in history, orchestrated by these... these god-shunted bags of filth. No, not everyone need be drained of their blood as evidence for the attack. But they have been around for centuries. How many humans have been fed upon, unwillingly or no?" He demanded, slamming on the podium, and bringing several "gestures" like holding a clenched fist in the air, pointing up, and hunching over the podium. It bore an uncanny semblance to a certain great 3vil man, from the 1940's. "I vote, in opposition, that a law be passed. That vampires be segregated from all public areas. Nay, they should be quarantined, more like it!!" He yelled, oblivious to the thousands of boos coming from the vampires, and feeding upon the many cheers radiating from the human section. "They are not men. They aren't human, and they don't live. They are the undead. In fact, by law, the christian communities of the world should be able to hunt these abominations, by the 1st constitutional amendment. Freedom of religeon! God scorned vampires. They are the danged!! Religeous leaders should be free to hunt these foul beasts down, and banish them to the pits of h3ll from whence they came!!" He yelled. The cheering and boo's reached a fever pitch, so much so that from mid-right side, a group of troublemakers, (including several covert KKK members) tossed water ballons, filled with silver powder from ground down rings, into the vampire section. They burst, sending millions of particles of silver into the air, and the effect was immediate: It may have been cynanide or mustard gas to the vampires, who inhaled the deadly metal fillings. Violence was about to start.
[[ Sorry 'bout that. But this is h00manity vs. vampires. I saw only vampires winnin', so I figured humanity needed to put up a fight. ]]

[Yay! Tobias gets to shoot people.]
"TERRORISTS!" A Marine shouted, the moment the first ballon burst. A split-second later, a hail of 5.56 MM rounds tore into the chest of one human who was wielding a ballon, while Tobias and two marines leapt across the line seperating the two races and sped across the center to the scene of the incident. Tobias, the fastest of the soldiers, got there just as another anti-Vampire rebel was about to throw another ballon. The rebel was met with a roundhouse kick to the side of the head that send him crashing to the ground, then a extremely brutal curb stomp from another marine, killing him instantly.
Tobias leveled his rifle on another rebel, and shot out one of the man's kneecaps, while the remaining three troublemakers found that they had several HK416 Rifles leveled at them. "Take these rejects into custody, and kill ANYONE else who even thinks about throwing a ballon or something that could be a weapon! And someone get me the Vampire head of security down here, we need to talk." The Sergeant roared, directing the ten or so Marines milling about the scene of the incident. He sighed and walked over to one of the side exit doors and stood by it, waiting for his Comms man to get that head of securiety down to the scene.
Meanwhile, another two Squads of Marines had entered the building, and were patrolling the human section and randomly searching people for anything that might possibly contain a weapon. This time, nobody was exempt from the search. There was even a squad that had started searching the Hazmat team...

The attack would be the straw that broke the camel's back. Before any teams could even progress to the second story, the vampires descended on the catpured rebels, intent on bloody vengence. Already 12-20 vampires had succumbed to the deadly silver-clouds, with another 30 or so rolling on the floor, wounded beyond help but clinging to horrible "life". The burst from the assault rifle too was ill-planned; the AP rounds tore through the person, and continued along through the rest of the auditorium, along with several people. The troops began firing in wild directions, as humans both ran up to fight with the vampires, who were finished with being slain and ignored by the law. A general Melee ensued.
Above, still untouched, was the hazmat team who'd sprung into action. Their equipment was being packed up, ready for use. When the battle cleared if it ever did, they would need to go in and sanitize the entire area. Human and vampire blood carried pathogens, and in Katrina-ravaged New Orleans, the last thing needed was an out-break of blood-born-pathogen illnesses and epidemics. Rafael was having a blast, being the only one above the melee with a good camera. Everything was caught on film, and his only regret was that he did not have another 5-6 cameras to help record everything.

Tobias frowned, pulled out two flash-bang's, pulled the pins, then tossed them into the middle of the Melee. "FLASH OUT!" He barked, covering his ears and turning to face away from the stun grenades. Three seconds later, a pair of deafening BANGs roared out, accompanied by blinding flashes of brilliant white light.
Seconds later, the Marines descended with renewed vigor into the stunned crowd, brandishing Tazers and police Batons. The soldiers spent only thirty seconds splitting up the fighters, and getting all the humans back on the their side of the line, and the Vamps on theirs. "STAY BEHIND THE LINE OR GET SHOT!" Tobias roared, his Marines forming a line between the two groups, half the Marines aiming at the Vamps, the other half aiming at the Humans. One human charged forward, believing that it was just a scare tactic, but he was wrong. Tobias pulled his 9MM and double-tapped the rushing human in the heart, then replaced the pistol in it's holster. "We're not playing around here, people!" He growled, looking back and forth between the Vamps, who were calming down somewhat, and the still-riled Humans.

High above the entire debacle, was the glinting eye of the video recorder. Raf caught everything on tape, and was glad that the hazmat teams (who were ready to go, and awaited the auditorium to be emptied) allowed him to come in as well. Naturally, persons of importance (I.E. the terrified politicians) had long since split, not eager to be caught in the melee. The last body guard teams had left as well even; this would night would be one for the record books, alright.
