Another post inspired by Rafiki! Yes, this is the official do's and don'ts of the Pride Lands. Anyone caught doing the following risks getting banned (or thrown off the cliff that Zira fell off of. *lol*)
The following are taboo subjects or discussions for posting:
- porn (including pictures)
- graphic talk (of a sexual nature or a violent nature)
- anything that is said to intentionally offend someone
- anything that could unintentionally offend (i.e.: controversial chat debating anything such as someone's life choices, abortion, religion bashing, etc. except in designated password protected adult area)
- profanities (no bypassing of the word censors will be allowed unless it is to be able to post an innocent word, such as posting about "D!ck Cheney", for instance, where you'd need to place an exclamation point to allow the word to show. -- Although why anyone would WANT to discuss him is beyond me! ;D )
- anything else unsuitable for children, as this is a TLK/Disney themed board
Plus the following are other board related "no-nos":
- posting tons of useless posts just to boost your rating on the board
See the thread Examples of Spam for more info.
- advertising for sites that list anything illegal and/or not suitable for children
- linking to illegal downloads or any other illegal content
- copyright infringement
- major board dishonesties (lying about age in profile so as to skirt the age requirements, claiming fan art/fiction to be yours when it's not, taking credit for websites that are not yours, etc.)
- other misc. illegal activities (using the board to conduct pyramid schemes, etc.)
The following are also being added due to recent happenings on the board:
- These rules do not apply just to visible posts on the board. If members complains about being offended via a PM, this will also count.
- Any offensive content not related to PMs or posts, but indirectly linked to this board will also result in staff taking action. We do not tolerate people using this board as a medium to find people to harass off-site.
- Be careful of what you are saying to minors! Bear in mind that this is a Disney themed board, and as such there are always youngsters hanging out in here. If you notice, any potentially offensive posts are usually reworded so as not to offend. (i.e. in the den, shows/themes that are for adults, such as South Park, are vaguely mentioned so only people familiar with the show will know what is being discussed. Bad words or direct mention of content are usually left out.)
- Child predators will not be tolerated! Under no circumstances is it acceptable for adults to attempt to obtain personal information about minors on the board! We are not dumb...we know people are lying about their ages half the time on the internet. Staff members WILL track IP addresses as warranted. If we have a member "claiming" to be 13, but are using a computer on a college campus, obviously they are not 13. (How many 13 year olds have access to a college's computer system? Really?) This falls under the illegal activity clause. Keep in mind that this board is hosted by ProBoards' good graces. Let's not do anything to have the board shut down, ok?
I am adding the following to this list, in light of recent posts I've had to go in and delete. Although you won't get banned for doing this, it does guarantee at the very least deletion of your posts.
- Severely off-topic posts in a thread! One or two I'll overlook, but if it's repeated too often, they'll be deleted. (i.e. a thread about your favorite movie is flooded with someone advertising a website or excessive talking about The Little Mermaid in a Pirates of the Carribbean thread)
- Repetitive, useless posts. (i.e. posting "Hi" and "hello" over and over, and then adding more posts asking why no one is responding.) No one really wants to read those posts. It clogs up the forum. Plus, I see it as an attempt to inflate your posting count to get a higher rank. I have been deleting countless variations of these posts over the past week or so, much higher than normal. (Even though this is mentioned in the "no no's" section above, I felt I had to elaborate on this due to how often the rules are being ignored.)
Additional Fan Art Guideliness (for clarification):
This has become an area of concern, and in light of this I am adding a clarification. Fan art should be something that you created completely using only the inspiration of Disney characters. Most fan artists either sketch existing characters, or create their own characters. Please do not alter anyone else's work and pass it off as your own. Artists spend a lot of time painstakingly creating, drawing, and coloring their pictures. If you had drawn one, would you want to see someone else draw over it, leaving many parts that were exclusively your own and now saying they made it? Probably not. Please give this same consideration to other people's work. I would rather see a character sketched out with a blank background than to steal someone else's. Consider this: is it okay to recolor a work of art in a museum and then say you made it? No. You'd be arrested for defacement. I don't want this board to get a bad reputation for letting people do this. On that note, if you DO get permission from an artist to alter their work or use their characters in your work, you MUST give them the proper credit.
These lists will be updated, as needed, to add any other items that will get you in deep trouble.
