Hey, does anyone here play a musical instrument and plays or wants to play Lion King music? Tell us what instrument you play and what you like to play on it! I'll start: I've played the piano for seven years and I have the advanced TLK1 sheet music book. I can play all the songs pretty well (except Be Prepared, that's hard ) I also love sheet music from other movies and musicals, especially The Phantom of the Opera, Rent and Titanic.

I play a lot of instruments. I can play piano, violin, viola, cello, and guitar but I only practice playing violin and piano everyday. I love playing Shadowland on the piano, and for violin I only have Circle of Life. I usually just convert the piano music into violin. A few of the other soundtrack music I play is PotC 1 & 2, Pride and Prejudice (sp?), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, The Land Before Time, and other popular Disney songs. I also have Titanic and Phantom of the Opera

I play the trumpet! I really haven't gotten any Lion King music, but right now we are working on Lord of the Rings and a piece of music called Cartoon Symphony. It has stuff like The Simpsons, the Pink Panther, Flintones..it is really awesome!

Wow, that's amazing Vatalanie! Wish I could play that many instruments...I'm considering getting the TLK B'way piano book for Christmas...what do you think? Yeah lyonesse, Lord of the Rings music is really good too. I have all the soundtracks and the Return/King piano book. Most of the music wasn't really written with the piano in mind though...it must sound great on trumpet.

Yeah, especially music from The Two Towers! I have the soundtracks too and a book with some of the songs and instrument parts for them as well. Oh and I play piano too! But I haven't taken lessons for awhile now though. I can play "My Heart Will Go On" from the Titanic also!

It's really not that much when you consider that all of them are string instruments Though I fully believe that anyone who can play the piano well is really talented and fortunate. I was randomly playing The Spinning Song at school once before class and my friends wanted me to teach them. They just didn't get it. Like they didn't understand why there were black and white keys and what position to place your hand. There's so much that's taken for granted...playing the piano was one thing I took for granted. You're so lucky though, Fangs! I mean, I would've loved to be taught the piano for so long! I had to teach myself--my parents wouldn't let me take lessons because they couldn't drive me around during the day. So far, I've gotton through John Thompson Books 1, 2, and I'm trying to get through 3--it's been my 5th or 6th year teaching myself and that's as far as I've gotten I've always wanted the music for Lord of the Rings. I can't imagine how hard that would be on piano though. I've been looking for it for violin, especially the second movie. I've been dying to play the music of when they're at Rohan (sp?).

Yesss! Long live the Spinning Song! ;D Seriously though, teaching yourself the piano must be really hard...I'm amazed. Too bad about your not being able to get lessons, but you're doing really well on your own! I checked around online and I think I found a great LOTR book for you. It's violin solos with piano accompaniment and it has a lot of the main themes in it (including Rohan, yay.) Here's the URL: www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/smp_detail.html?cart=33689006299088899&item=5407099 Hope I helped.

Thanks! I'll see about it. I've been trying to find some where I can get it local though because my parents aren't big on odering from the internet. We have this really cool place in town that had tons of popular today's type of music, but 98% of the store is only for piano. I'll probably wait until Christmas and just beg my parents to order it, lol.
Oh, and I know! The Spinning Song is awesome! I heard it 2 years ago and decided I wanted to learn it (it was either that or some bumblebee song that was ten times harder). My sister can't stand coming home anymore because I play it so often ;D

My sister can't stand coming home anymore because I play it so often ;D Hahaha, yeah, that happens to me a lot too. Sometimes I think my poor family members must go crazy when I practice a certain song over and over in a short time period. ;D Fortunately they seem to put up with it pretty well... Oh yeah...I think I remember what book you're in with the John Thompsons...I think my teacher made me learn that bumblebee song once...trust me, the sooner you get out of those JT books and start learning real music (i.e. not created solely for educational purposes) the happier I think you'll be. Hmm, too bad about your parents not liking the internet . We don't have any sheet-music stores near where I live so I'm not sure how the prices compare...but I've ordered several things off that site and they've all been great.

I went to the books to learn the basics, but I only pick and choose which songs I want to play in them now. I've gotten a lot of other music books, but they are all from soundtracks. For the life of me, I cannot not play a song well if I haven't hear it before, lol

Yeah, JT books do help you learn the basics even if they are kinda boring... I just remember all those songs seemed to have the same kind of "blah" ending (but maybe that was because I was just a kid with a really short attention span, lol). It's always hard to play songs you don't have a clue about, especially classical stuff. Most of the time I get a new song, I just look at it and think, "what's wrong with me?? How can I even think of playing this?! " lol. But practicing it lots and lots does help, even though I almost never do...

Yeah, my orchestra teacher explained to us one day why all those type of songs sound the same. It depends on the key you're in...J.T. liked major keys--alot, lol. My favorite songs are almost always in minor and, thankfully, my teacher is obsessed with dark, thundering, minor music.

Oh yeah... that's why all his songs sounded the same, lol. They're all in either C or G major... ;D It's good that your orchestra teacher likes minor keys so much, I think they help you get used to using the sharps and flats so you're not as scared of them (although I think I still am a little... )
