So many of the characters' names end with "a."
Think: Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Pumbaa, Zira, Kiara, Nuka, Sarafina.
It's not a groundbreaking revelation, but I thought it was interesting.

I think this has something to do with the names in swahili. Looking at my list of names I noticed that most of the names in swahili ends with an a. But also common are all other vocals.
If we look at it only 5 characters do not end with an a.
Vitani Sarabi Timon Zazu Kovu
did I miss one?

Ok the 3 hyenas and Rafiki. Scar originally was named Taka so its also an a at the end. In the 3. movie there were more without a, that is right. But there they broke with the swahili names too. Max is not a swahili name. Are Shenzi, Banzai and Ed Swahili names?

If my source is right, Nala means "the queen".

Simba = Lion Mufasa = King Taka = Scar Nala = Gift/Queen Sarabi = Mirage Pumbaa = Simpleton Rafiki = Friend Kovu = Scar Shenzi = Uncouth Banzai = Skulk Vitani = variation of Shetani, which means "she-demon" Nuka = Stink Zira = Hate
Most of them are Swahili. Kovu isn't.
