Story:
Humanity… Mankind. With our great minds, our capabilities are limitless. Unfortunately, so are our seedier temptations… Lusts. Wishes. I know. Boy, do I know. 1st hand, at that. I remember first hearing about the fantastic Xenomorph, a jack of many traits, and a dangerous creature. Able to adapt to many conditions, able to do whatever was needed to live, and to thrive. Born, into death. Born by death. Living to kill, and serve. Like bees in a normal hive…. But these horrible creatures are far worse than any bee. They spread like wildfire, and kill like the plague. I know. My family’s died.
It’s currently 3150. I remember when they 1st announced the re-discovery in 3127. Supposed to be miracle weapons, shock troops of the worst kind, and TRAINABLE. Trainable my butt. The military and R&D were douche bags. They thought they could tame those beasts. Boy, were they wrong. I was home from work almost 5 years later; they claimed several genetically augmented specimens had “escaped” and were on 10 of almost 3,532 thousand transports out of the base. They believed.
At the time, I figured they’d been completely domesticated. I was again very, very wrong. My home planet Doscata III was one of the lucky 10, in 3,532 transports. By the time the military’d gotten here, we’d lost our 13th largest city on the planet to the bugs. And many more would follow. And it was so amazing…. They’d hidden…. Watched. Waited. About 1 month after the shuttle landed here, the military decided to blow the entire planet. Deemed it irrecoverable. I was a lucky one. Stole a military uniform, and stowed away on Battle Hymn of the Republic-Ortega. I still remember seeing all I’d ever known go up.
The damage was done, however. In that month, more bugs spread. Like wildfire. Now, almost all of humanity’s outer rim planets, ALL of it’s colonies, and now some of the inner rim planets are beginning to show signs of Xenomorphic life. We know we’re in trouble; the core is calling for mass mobilization and quarantine.
We may well be looking at the invasion of one of the single most deadly animals since humans 1st spawned. The problem is they’re 10 times worse than us, with no emotion, and all motivation. They strike fast, and efficiently, leaving terror and paranoia in their wake. Everything’s in chaos, and the bugs are getting worse. Bigger, better, badder. My bame is Jack Jackson. And I’ve fought enough of these bugs to know that humanity may be beginning to fight a losing war….
It was night aboard the Endevour, and the only person awake on the tiny 15-person ship was the security guard, Jack Jackson himself. He was glad he did not have to sleep, just yet. Not for another 3 hours. Those bugs always got him, in his sleep. Their leery, faceless eyes, and that monsterous 3vil grin, right before they struck. He ran over every monitor in his (purposefully) brightly lit CCTV room. There was nothing moving in any of the panels, and nothing regestered movement, aside from the normal slow movements in the crew's quarters. Still, Jack was nervous. He'd seen several of those bugs survive in the vaccume. Nothing should survive the vaccume. Especially not those black creatures of the hellish night, one with the shadows and his fright. Jack Jackson WAS afraid of the dark.
