"Morning, mother," Kiara greeted Nala as she padded over to her and nuzzled her gently.
-----
"We gotta get you back to the den, bud," Santiago told Kago as he lowered himself so the cub could jump onto his head once more.
"Aww man. Can't I fight the hyenas?" Kago pleaded the lion as he started to run back to Pride Rock.
"Trust me, I've been in a few scraps with hyenas before and you don't wanna fight them. They play dirty and gang up on you. Besides your father'd have a coronary if I let you."
"What's a coronary?"
"Heart attack," Santiago replied as he began to climb the steps.

"Them hyenas isn't stupid, you know." Bri said, walking along the edge of the bank, toward them. "You ARE, for going toward them instead of AWAY from them!" Tourian snorted, as she continued in through the bush. "I just wanna see 'em." Bri said, walking through the tall grasses again. "That's far enough!" Tourian hissed, after her 12th step. "Oh, stop being such a sissy, Tourian. They are only 10 of them. And they ARE stupid beasts, you know." She said, rolling her eyes, and slinking through the grasses at a faster pace. Tourian was dragged along for the ride, more out of concern than eagerness.
"You don't know that, Bri!" The leader of the second pack, the non-decoy pack, heard the male whine. He put on speed, as did the other 4 with him. "Yes I do! They don't know about decoys, or sneaking arr--AAH!!" She screamed, as one of them ran right infront of her. He'd overshot his mark, and the result was that he whizzed right by her, making a loud "KOP" sound as his left rear leg smacked bri's jaw, forcing it shut. She was dazed, but not enough to send her tumbling. Within seconds, she was back around, looking for Tourian, even with the hoots and snarls of hyenas thick in her ears.

"Kago, get inside with Timon and Pumbaa. Kovu!" Kiara called out as Santiago and Kago reached the top. Kago slid down Santiago's back as the lion sat down . Once he was on the ground, he bounded into the den once more.
"What do you need me to do?" Santiago asked.

With the decoy-pack actually under attack before the true assault pack had even gotten 1/4 of the way where it was supposed to be, their goal had been failed. They decided either way, this trip would end in brutality, and dinner. Even if that dinner meant cheetah, and leopard, instead of lion cub. Bri had seen Tourian break free of the confused attacking group of hyenas, and called as she ran to him. The hyenas were quick to reorganise, and were soon hot on Bri and Tourian's tales. "Bri! That other pack is being hit by 2 lions. We gotta go help them!" Tourian said. "But you....?" She asked. "Will be right behind you. Unity in numbers!!" He yelled, as she tore off, full-throttle toward the others, who were in not much better shape than they were. Tourian strained himself trying to run faster, but it was working. The odd, bouncy gate the hyenas had, could not keep pace with his smoother, longer strides.

Sunrise had already rose in the Pridelands and Kovu apparently had been sleeping in extremely late from yesterday's duties. During his long slumber, he heard a familiar voice calling out his name. It was none other than Kiara, the lioness he deeply cared for and loved very much. Kovu yawned, still feeling platitudinal as he rose up on all fours, taking in a deep breath before calling back.
"Okay, I'm up Kiara, sorry for sleeping in so late again."
Kovu shook out his fully grown mane that gleamed brightly in the sun as he stepped out from the cave. He didn't see Simba anywhere so he assumed he was engaged in another busy activity dealing with the Pridelands. Kovu began to glance around, padding along the rocky surface until his eyes finally found Kiara not too far.
"Hey Kiara, how are you doing today? I don't see our cub anywhere, hopefully he isn't doing another crazy stunt." Kovu grinned and moved in closer towards Kiara, giving her a full body nuzzle to show his affectionate side before taking a seat.
"So, how are you doing today?" Kovu politely asked in his loving tone as always.

"I was good until I heard from Zazu that there are hyenas on the prowl in the Pride Lands," Kiara replied as she motioned to the den. "Kago is with Timon and Pumbaa."
"Morning, Kovu," Santiago greeted as he walked over to the two, "Yeah, she's right we've got hyenas on the prowl. Simba's probably thinking up a battle plan, but I definitely plan on helping."
Santiago knew how to fight and that was a plus. Ever since he was a cub he would have to fight almost routinely in order to survive. Despite not wanting to fight, right now he knew that he had to. Nothing was going to change that. And besides, he'd have backup this time from his friends and from the pride that he had ended up joining.

Bri ended up blasting right through the wild ruckus on her first pass, quickly skidding to a stop and turning around, pouncing on the back of a hyena that had just nearly secured a bite hold on the throat of one of the bigger lions. Still, her very small, frail cheetah form was not much help fighting; she was shaken free in 3 mighty bucks, and landed with a hard thrump in the grasses and crack ground about 4 feet to the left of her former victim.
Tourian blasted in, his much larger form sending 2 hyenas tumbling, to trip up the 6 that had just followed him in. In turn, the ones behind them slammed right into their comrades, none being able to stop in time to keep from becoming a large, thrashing, and helpless hyena-pile. Tourian could not see Bri; he did not have time to watch her brief flight from the battle. Instead, he focused on joining in with the two males fighting for their lives.

Laini had hid in a small crevice in the rock-wall. She wanted to show off her new speech skills, but wasn't ready for so much attention. She watched the commotion quietly, waiting for the group to disperse, and - hopefully - leaving Kago. She had been practicing and gathering the courage to talk to her fellow cub all week, so she hoped he would end up staying behind.

Kago grumbled quietly to himself as Timon and Pumbaa left the den to see what the commotion was about. He didn't think that he'd ever get the opportunity to fight hyenas. Maybe Santiago was right. Maybe they're not that fun to fight, Kago thought as he lied down to rest. He yawned slightly as he watched what was going on outside of the cave.

Kovu frowned from the unpleasant news, glancing off to the distance of the horizon. He never really liked hyenas nor fighting in that matter as he shifted both brown fore paws along the dirt, looking back over at Kiara with a calm facial expression.
"Kia..."
Kovu stopped speaking, noticing the motion towards their den as he sighed a little, wondering if there is more trouble news within the Pridelands. Not thinking too much, Kovu was beginning to worry about Kago's safety since he was only a cub and wouldn't be able to defend himself in the Pridelands. Thinking way too much of the current situation, Kovu almost forgot about Santiago as he stopped in his tracks for a brief moment.
"Hey Santiago, it's good to see you again. Give me a minute, Kiara wants to see me for a second, I'll be right back."
Kovu felt bad saying a few things and leaving so suddenly but he was nervous a tiny bit about the whole situation. Padding along now, he stopped a few paces away from Kiara, noticing she seemed uneasy for some reason or at least, assuming so. Seeing how there was a long pause, Kovu spoke up first.
"Are you doing okay? Is there something on your mind?" Kovu asked, watching her with a longing stare.

"I'm just wondering what the plan is to take care of those hyenas. And your snoring kept me up again," Kiara replied with a small smirk as she gently used a forepaw to nudge Kovu before nuzzling him. Honestly, Kovu did have an issue with snoring, but for as long as Kara knew him she wasn't sure if he even knew about it.
Santiago just stood and let the two talk. For once in his life he wasn't letting his curiosity get the best of him and just decided to sit down and wait for somebody to address him.

Laini listened and shrunk back at the mention of hyenas in her home. She was careful not to scrape herself or hit her head in the small space, which made it even smaller. It was uncomfortable, but worth it in her opinion.

Vitani wandered through The Pride Lands, muttering to herself about random thoughts that passed through her mind. Ever since the past issues with The Outlanders had been resolved, she had been assigned a rather dull job of keeping order within The Pride Lands, rather, a piece maker, of sorts. Far from her usual means of living, this job proved to be extremely borhing for her.
"Jeez, nothing ever happens in these lands. It's nothing like The Outlands was." Vitani muttered under her breath as she continued to travel her usual path along the outskirts of The Pride Lands. She was right about to call it a day when her ears caught wind of some rather loud activity that seemed to be occuring near by.
"Huh, what's this? Seems like there might be something going on in the distance. I better have a look." Vitani spoke as she quickened her pace towards the sounds that caught her attention. It didn't take her long to reach the site of the battle. A small gleem lit up in her eyes as she surveyed the situation.
"Yes! Finally, some action. It's about time." She stated as she wasted no time, rushing head long into the already started fight.
Vitani was no stranger to the battle field. She was a seasoned fighter at heart and it showed immediately as she struck a near-by hyena with an earth shattering slash from her already ejected, razor-sharp claws.

Kovu sat there silently, listening to Kiara speak up as both of his dark colored ears twitched and perked up a tiny bit. He heard about the snoring issues, knowing too well that he did have some sort of problem when it came to sleeping. Kovu felt embarrassed, glancing away momentarily before looking over at Kiara, feeling her nuzzles which caused him to purr quietly.
"I'm sorry about my snoring problems, Kiara. Its just that, I can't seem to help it." Kovu replied in a low tone, being completely honest as he rose up on all fours, stretching out his furry brown back before glancing over where Santiago seated himself. Smiling a little, Kovu looked back over at Kiara,
"I guess Santiago is going to help us with the hyena problems. What about, Kago? I'm kinda worried about him, I don't want him running into anything that will cause danger." Kovu seated back down once more, letting out a low sigh, wondering how the Pridelands were doing as he isn't quite use to the place yet.

Laini saw her chance to go in. The adults were looking away. She slowly and carefully slipped out of hiding, and into the den. She nervously looked around, testing each step so she didn't stumble. "H-Hi." she said softly, making an attempt to smile and seem confident.

Nala, hearing the roar of simba, rose to her feet. She rang out a short roar back, signaling to Simba that help was on the way. She sprinted to the fight, and jumped in with Arsalan and her mate. She managed to pull off a few Hyenas from Simbas back, and ruff them up pretty badly. She tried to fight off more, but they just kept coming. "Where are they coming from?" She panted in between breaths. A many Hyenas had fallen because they had nothing more in them, but someone needed to jump in. Pumba was throwing about howling hyenas left and right, but many hyenas were ganging up on him. A very annoying laughter filled the feilds, along with yelps and roars. Nala was getting tired fast. Her fighting became less and less efective. But she wouldn't retreat. Not while Simba needed her help. More lionesses were coming, so the fight was becoming more even. This was good. A sudden sense of worry came over her. What if Kopa got hurt? What if Simba got hurt? A single tear ran down her check at the thought of it. She shook her head. No! Think about NOW. And what I can do to help. With another burst of energy, she was back in the fight!
Zazu was freaking out. He had always gotten nervous during these types of things. He decided to land on a tree near the fight so that if anyone needed him they could just call. A male Little Bee Eater landed next to him. In a squeaky and cheerful voice, he asked, "Hey, ya know where any good flowers are?" Zazu, not in a good mood at all, replied in a sharp and low voice, "No! I have far more important things to watch for than a bee hot-spot!" Afended deeply, the bird mumbled, "Jerk..." Zazu snaped, "Yeah, why dont you high tail it to another tree, where maybe the squirrels'll care!" The bird said nothing and flew off. Zazu sat there angrily, waiting for the fight to be over. He occasionally mumbled words of encouragement, like "Get 'em, Simba!", or "Nice one, Arsalan!"
