There's been this idea kicking around in my head for the past couple of days that has been inspired by my newfound love for "Ozy and Millie." My idea is to band together with some anthropomorphic artists on this site (if there are any) and create our own anthro comic strip!!! The strip is set in an elementary school and is pretty much an allegory of my elementary days seeing as how the children in the comic are 10 years old. Here are the main charies!
Taylor Gianelli- Dog (preferably a beagle). Very much enjoys topics that are a bit beyond his years. i.e. Politics, theatre, serial killer mysteries, philosophy and has recently beaten ADHD. Is somewhat outgoing but doesn't have many "close" friends. He is extremely liberal in his philosophy and despises religion to the umpth degree.
Lindsey Bauer- Cat (preferably an American Shorthair). Is hyper at times and is one of Taylor's best friends. She is a regular 10-year old student, but understands what Taylor is talking about most of the time.
Mandy Dukakis- Squirrel. Is Taylor's buddy in Debate Club. She is a conservative and she and Lindsey are not on good terms most of the time.
Sara Gianelli- Same as Taylor. Is Taylor's mother. She is the President of the PTA and has led the charge by the parents against Dr. Greene's methods of warping young children's social minds. She incurs a type of Erin Brockovich atmosphere in every room she walks into because most of the people in the room quiet down to see if she has something to say.
Dr. Seski- Raccoon. Is the school's psychiatrist to whom Taylor is sent by about half of his teachers when he exhibits some lagging remnants of the ADHD. She exhibits a minimal understanding of Taylor, but her potential to better understand him is impaired by school board prejudices that she has played into. She falls into the category of somebody in the school who means well, but is too easily misguided by authority figures.
Dr. Greene- Rat. Is the school district's superintendent and will do whatever he can to maintain the social hierarchy in the elementary school as he believes that social distinctions can encourage "geeky" kids to conform to the ways of such kids as "jocks."
Mrs. Valentine- Wolf. Is Taylor, Lindsey and Mandy's English teacher. She is perhaps the only teacher in the entire school who actually takes an initiative to know Taylor as a person, not as a freakish ADHD kid who is able to memorize basically everything he hears and sees. Taylor often talks about the injustices of the school environment with her and sometimes discusses the goings-on in the political and theatrical worlds with her. Along with Mr. Goodman, she and him were the few of Taylor's teachers who were initially against the school board's recommendation to put Taylor on a Prozac regimen, but they were both threatened with being denied tenure by Dr. Greene and the school board and reluctantly changed their opinions.
Ms. Manson- Fox. Manson is Taylor, Lindsey, and Mandy's Science teacher and is the polar opposite of Mrs. Valentine (Note the food chain connection between their species). She actually takes an initiative to embarass Taylor in class if he does not follow directions perfectly and has been complained about by numerous parents who were told of these instances by their children, but since she is Dr. Greene's lackey, nothing has ever been done.
Mr. Goodman- Dragon. Goodman is Taylor, Lindsey, and Mandy's Chorus teacher and has often supported Taylor in his goals. Like Mrs. Valentine, he was threatened with being denied tenure if he spoke out against the school board's Prozac regimen for Taylor.
Dr. Diana Riske- Horse. Is the elementary school's principal and has outwardly denounced the school's unspoken social hierarchy, but, in reality, is really just another pawn of Dr. Greene being used to appease the parents.
Mr. Christie- Rabbit. Is Taylor, Lindsey and Mandy's History teacher and is initially feared by most of the student body for his actions in class on the first day of school, but quickly becomes one of the most well-spoken-about teachers for his hilarious antics and tangents during class.
More characters are on the way, so any anthro artists feeling up to the task of putting some faces on these charies, please PM me! (And yes, all of these characters are based on people in my school life and yes, I know my school life was royally screwed up.)
