The reason why I'm posting this here, is because it's board related, and is a very important thread to keep you safe, online, and in real life!
Hello Guys,
The staff have come up with a new topic, on how to keep safe on this site, and the Internet!
We understand a lot of people here, and people that are just browsing, have discovered you can make friends through the Internet. Well, that's fine, but there is a possibility that one of the people you're talking to is a predator. So in this topic we decided, for your benefit and safety, we'll give you some tips on how to stay safe!
1. NEVER give your location, or any other sort of personal information. (Ex - Street Address, State, Last Name, Age (Except in your profile, where it is required), or any other sort of Information that involves real life. That can even include the sports team you're on, and even your school!)
2. Keep updated on the news. You never know what they will announce on the news. There could be a predator in your neighborhood!
3. If you receive a PM asking for any kind of information, or you feel someone is harassing you, quote what they say using the quote button in your PM box, and add a staff username in. Usernames can be found in a profile next to a person's name above the main profile. The owner's username is Admin.
4. Another good way to get proof is to Press the Alt-Print scrn on your keyboard. Then you go into paint and go to Edit at the top, and click paste. Then you save it to your computer, and put it on an image hosting site such as Imageshack.us, Photobucket.com, and Tinypic.com.
5. If you ever ever feel as if someone is already tracking you, CALL THE COPS IMMEDIATELY! Tell them someone is trying to hurt you, they'll care. Just ask them to keep an eye on you, and follow you where you go, and make sure you don't get hurt by a stranger.
6. NEVER meet someone online if you are a minor!
Remember, you do not know who is really behind the keyboard, unless you've met them in real life already. So do not trust anyone, this could lead to you getting hurt.
Thank You,
TLKPF Staff.
