Jeshi nearly blushed. He wanted so badly to see her given that he hadn't seen her since before she became pregnant. He wanted to help her....He wanted to be there for her.
Vitani snapped herself out of her romantic trance to heed Jamall's warning about the panther paparazzo. "Well, are there any identifying marks on Kam that can assist me in.....distinguishing him from other panthers?" she asked in an unintentionally suggestive manner, but it was too late before she realized her tone.

Jamall noted the appreciably suggestive tone in Vitani's voice, and a slight blush in his cheeks gave away that he had picked it up, but the lion decided to, for the moment, ignore it and instead reply to her question as professionally as was possible under the circumstances. "Kam's small of build, about Sky's size, and has a set of three scars on his right cheek that came from a paw that was... Oh, I dunno.. About this size." He replied, holding his paw up pads-up for Vitani to see, so that she could guesstimate what kind of separation between scars to look for.
Jamall paused a moment, then set down his paw. "Actually, I don't have any other duties to perform for the rest of the evening... I'll stay with you, make sure he doesn't bother you while you work. Would that be... All right?"

Vitani blushed in response to the Colonel's blushing. She knew he knew what she unintentionally was implying. "Oh, would you, Colonel? Thank you!" she said in response to his suggestion of accompanying her for the rest of her day.

"It's my pleasure, President Vitani." Jamall replied, without thinking. He had never before, in his entire professional career, even hinted at the fact that it was indeed a pleasure for him to spend time with her. But now he had. Nothing he could do about that now, and maybe, if he was lucky, Jeshi would brush it off as little more than Jamall's ever-increasing respect for the lioness president.
Jamall paused a moment and cleared his throat, then tilted his head off towards Pride Rock. "Well, I suppose we ought to get going... Jeshi, if you're free now, could you go check on Sky for me? I trust you a lot more than I trust the nurse who's supposed to be caring for her."

Vitani, now that she thought of it, noticed that the Colonel's behavior was somewhat out of place, given his professional demeanor, he was not one to offer more of his time than was necesary. She knew this was a sign of something, she just didn't know exactly what of.
Jeshi nodded and began to set off for Sky's cave. On any other day, he would have noticed Jamall's abnormal behavior, but now, all he could think about was Sky....

"I'll follow you, President Vitani." Jamall said, a small and barely noticable smile upon his muzzle.
Sky, meanwhile, was curled up in a ball in Jamall's den, a small block of wood cradled between her forepaws. During her pregnancy, she had discovered a hobby that not only entertained her and kept her busy, but also sharpened her claws! That hobby was... Carving. Scattered about the lioness were little wood shavings, a few carvings ranging from one of a zebra to a paw-sized but very realistic portrayal of Jamall's face. She was humming happily to the tune of 'Can you feel the love tonight' as she worked, and was unlikely to notice the approach of anyone unless they announced their presence in some way.

Vitani inconspicuously smiled back at Colonel Mohatu and began walking back up Pride Rock for her meeting with Njiani, her Infrastructure Secretary. She saw a black panther in the distance, but couldn't distinguish just who it was. "Is that Kam, Colonel?" she asked Jamall.
Jeshi came to the entrance of Sky's den and heard the happy voice of his longtime cubhood friend, and immediately, a wave of calm swept over him when he heard her humming that wonderful song. Also, curious as to what the scratching was, Jeshi went inside....

Jeshi entrance was announced plain as day when he stepped upon a small pile of wood shavings, which crunched under his paw and were sent scattering about. Sky's ears perked up and she stopped humming, as she looked up to see who it was. "Jamall, I told you, I am fin..." She cut herself off in midsentence when she saw it was not her admittedly overprotective brother, but rather, her guest was her old friend, Jeshi. "Jeshi? Wow, I haven't seen you in a while! Please, come in and make yourself comfortable!" She called out, patting a spot near her, to indicate that she wished him to sit nearby. At the same time, Sky slowly sat up, her sapphire blue orbs locked upon Jeshi's handsome visage.
"Could be." Jamall replied, dark blue eyes fixed upon the distant panther. "Panther's definitely scrawny enough to be him... But I don't know. I suppose we won't know until we get closer." The lion said, returning his gaze to Vitani. "But I would try to avoid getting any closer than this to Kam, if it is him. He's... Very tiresome to be near." Jamall added, noticeably pausing on the final phrase of his statement, as if searching for the least vulgar words with which to describe Kam.

Jeshi stumbled for words for a couple of seconds; he was simply fixated on Sky's stunning eyes. "Uhh...I--How are you feeling, Sky?" he asked in what he felt was a warm manner as he motioned to sit down adjacent to Sky, with his eyes still fixed on hers.
Vitani chuckled and turned back to face the distant but oncoming panther. She soon found herself subconsciously reverting to her youthful days, and, without realizing it, hid behind Jamall as she had done back in her school days. Upon realizing this, she blushed profusely and was at a loss for words.

"Ugh, pregnant. Like all that exercise and dieting I did to get in perfect shape for the 'Pride Rock's most desirable lioness' contest was for nothing." She laughed, smiling at Jeshi as he sat down. "But hey, at least I won that contest." Sky added, turning her gaze from Jeshi and back to the wooden object cradled between her paws for a moment, before allowing the attention of her eyes to once again settle upon his face. "What about you? How have you been? My brother hasn't been giving you too much trouble, has he?" She asked with a laugh.
"I realize my physical size is very large for our species, President Vitani, but I sincerely doubt that panther is blind enough to not immediately spot you hiding behind me once we get closer. My frame is large enough that you'd have to spread your legs and grow a couple inches taller in order for him to not see your legs from between mine." Jamall said teasingly, glancing back over his shoulder at Vitani and letting a grin cross his face. "Come on, walk beside me, 'Tani. He'll be more intimidated if he thinks that you don't need a bodyguard to stand between you and the world." He suggested, unthinkingly falling back to the nickname he had so affectionately called Vitani by in their younger days.

Jeshi chuckled, finally taking his gaze away from Sky's eyes. "No, not really, just being the usual....never mind. So...how has is the baby doing?" He asked somewhat awkwardly, forgetting he had slept with Sky at about the same time she was impregnated; he had nearly entirely blocked out the couple of weeks they were together, and since she had abruptly found a new mate afterward, they had been disconnected over these past months.
Vitani chuckled and came out from behind Jamall. "I wasn't hiding!" she snapped cheerfully, "I was merely protecting myself!" The futility of what she countered his comments with made her blush a little bit further, as she tried to conceal her face from the Colonel.

"Fine. I think it's a boy, it's been kicking quite a bit. Energetic little devil. It's going to be total chaos when he's born." Sky chuckled, resting her head on her paws as she spoke. Unlike Jeshi, she remembered that night upon which she became pregnant. It was out of shame that she had never mentioned that she knew the father of her child. Not because of who the father was, but because she wasn't married. It had been easier for her and her brother to simply lie, and say that she had been raped by a rogue.
"Why were you protecting yourself? Do you not have faith in my ability to break a panther in two and kick him clear to the Outlands without breaking a sweat?" Jamall asked, pretending to be filled with disbelief at what he was hearing. "Anyways... Let's walk a little slower for a moment, give that lovely blush upon your cheeks time to die out. This guy will spin a simple blush into something so sexually inappropriate that... Well, let's just say you want to keep a straight face around him."

Jeshi smiled in a fatherly way at Sky. "Well, I wouldn't know, but my friends tell me that when their cub is born, they feel as though they've made the final leap from cubhood to lionhood," he told her philosophically, not thinking he would ever get to experience that moment....
Vitani smiled up at Jamall. "I guess you're right..." she told him, "but how do you know it's Kam?" she snapped back almost immediately.

"Because I can smell the god-awful stuff he uses as cologne clear from here." Jamall replied, wrinkling his nose in mock disgust. He then turned his gaze back to Vitani, only for his eyes to lock upon hers as if magnetically attracted. A surprisingly warm and admiring smile crept across his face as he held her gaze, a certain emotion present in his eyes that Vitani had likely never seen the Colonel display before. That emotion could be interpreted either as the sort of affection someone has for a very close comrade or as a brother has for a sibling. Or, it could be interpreted as a more romantic affection.
"Well... You and I will get to experience that soon..." Sky sighed, without thinking about how it would completly blow the lid on who the father really was, if he was paying attention.

Vitani ruffled her nose in an attempt to smell the odor. It turned out she got a fairly good whif of it and her eyes nearly began tearing up. "What the hell is that he's wearing?" she whispered to Jamall.
Jeshi sat there speechless. He quickly shook his head in an almost it-can't-possibly-be-true manner. It was then, at that moment, that the memories of their brief time as a couple came flooding back to him. He remembered that night at the oasis with the waterfall a few months prior. "Sky," he whispered, "Are you s-serious?" he asked in a tone he felt did not give the impression that he didn't want it to be true, but merely wanted to know if Sky was absolutely sure that her son was going to be his.

"Eau de pile of dung, maybe? I dunno, idiot claims that it attracts females. But I bet the only kind of female it attracts are dung beetles and flies." Jamall said, smirking. "One thing's for sure, and he is not getting laid while he's wearing that stuff. Then again, I bet that guy doesn't even know what procreation is, so it probably isn't a problem for him."
Sky slowly nodded. "I am. And I know beyond a doubt it is your child... I wasn't with anyone before our time together, and I haven't been with anyone after our time together." She replied softly, also letting on that he was the first and only male she had ever lain with. "I... I lied to Jamall, told him that... I had been raped by a rogue. It was easier than telling him that I had gotten myself pregnant, and I wasn't married to the father."
