Yes, he acts gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

No hint to him being gay. He's just friendly. Anything wrong with that in a guy?

Well, technically, the episode of his and patrick's common-law marriage certainly must be called into question. Spongebob and Patrick get together, to raise that oyster or whatever they found. They act like a married couple, and spongebob dresses like a woman. He even says he wants to have another, in the full-on child rearing sense. Ick.
I forgot which episode, but he ends up playing french maid for the squid thing, that lives nextdoor (I don't remember how he ended up at spongebob's house). He wore the french dress.... That didn't have a back. Ew-er. And topping it off with a dose of Ew-est, was the really creepy "Woman legs with stockings and highheels" patrick, in the spongebob movie.
They all crossdress. I don't think that show is for kids, really. There are waaaaaaaaaaaay too many adult references in the show, to get a G-rating.

Just because people in the show cross-dress, doesn't make them gay. They have to have an attraction to a person of the same gender to be gay.
Spongebob is a very adult themed show, but not because of the cross-dressing. Yet, the show is also very Silly, too silly for an adult to stomach. I can see where it gets its G-Rating, there's no cursing, no kissing, no nothing. I don't think I'd be fair to give a higher rating just because spongebob cross-dresses. The creators would be sued by so many gay people for doing this. All the cross-Dressing is done in humor anyways, and wearing a maid outfit is not cross-Dressing. It was making fun of the fact that squidward was treating him like a maid. If you watched the whole thing, you would of heard "Why aren't you in uniform?" from squidward, meaning spongebob did NOT dress like that on his own free-will.
The Patrick and husband episode with the clam was to make fun of all the bigots who think that two guys can't raise a child. In the end of the episode, the clam is just fine, and flys away.
Although the show can be a bit sexist, and is filled with stereotypes, it's G-rating, is for a reason, It causes controversy, but it's appropriate for a child to watch. In fact, most children won't really understand the crude humor in it, they'll just watch it, and not even notice.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the episode where Patrick dresses up like a girl, so he can work at the Krusty Krab...

There's obviously something going on there. People don't make people dress up in adult costumes for the heck of it. ESPECIALLY if sponge bob's already doing everything else for him anyway. (And I haven't bothered to continue on watching it, since we got cable. It's all about cartoon network now, baby. w007!!)

Just proves to me that underwater critters don't even wear cloths, so it doesn't really matter.

I have no idea what in there proved anything about marine life is naked (though we all know it to be fact in the first place), but whatever.
In any case, I'm surprised many of these old/dead threads are being resurrected. I guess we really must be hard up for topics....
In any event, Avatar: The Last Airbender/Star Wars: The Clone Wars/etc. are much better shows, in my opinion. I guess I just like plots with good, enriching story lines.

I'm not absolutely sure why this topic was revived in the first place. LOL. I like spongebob, I've seen every episode at least 2-3 times. I can honestly say, I would rather prefer Ren And Stimpy to return to nick though... Ah... classic nick.

Invader Zim and Rocko's Modern life were the two best shows that have died that I can think of right now. And, Avatar: The Last Airbender. I don't remember any others, but I think there were more.
